Monsters: Dark Continent Trailer and Impressions

My Thoughts:
Back in 2010 director Gareth Edwards brought us “Monsters”. A low budget character driven sci-fi movie that was trying to make a point about American immigration laws. The movie wasn’t very good. And it would seem like the new directer for this sequel (Tom Green) agrees with that last statement and has decided to pull a “The Purge: Anarchy” on us and completely change not only the tone and major themes, but the genre of movie all together. This isn’t an indie sci-fi character drama, this is a strait up sci-fi action movie. And hey, we even get to see the monsters this time. So far this looks pretty good. And with how well the genre change worked for “The Purge: Anarchy” i have high hopes that it may serve this movie well too. I am hoping that the creative team will still try to keep some of the political allegory in the movie, but even if they don’t this is still looking like a fun action romp.

    • Yeah, this does look like its going to be more of a strait action movie, but can still see a few ways for it to play on the political side of things. Maybe making some comments on America’s military actions over the past decade? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
