So far i believe Marvel has yet to put out a truly bad movie. Sure “Iron Man 2” was sub-par, but i don’t think it was bad. However, i have so far been expecting this to be their first real bomb. With Edgar Wright being booted off the project only to be replaced by Peyton Reed (dir. “Yes Man” and “Bring It On”) i felt the movie was on thin ice pretty much from the word go. My expectations might not have been as low as when i hear Michael Bay or Tyler Perry has a new movie coming out, but they were getting there. This trailer was Marvels chance to win back my hopes (and probably a lot of other people’s as well), and in my eyes they didn’t do enough. Sure, the costume looks great, and that line about changing the name made me laugh, but in the end i’m left thinking “was that it?” You would think Marvel would want to really try and win back some people, but instead they gave us probably the most underwhelming trailer they’ve done.
But my issue with this trailer goes deeper than just that. This will be the official start to Marvels Phase 3. This is the last stretch of films they have to do after what was promised after “The Avengers”, and i wouldn’t mind seeing the franchise come to a close after “Infinity War Part 2”. And this is how Marvel is going to kick that off?
Well that’s what i think. What about you? What did you think of the trailer? Leave a comment below and let me know.
