I try to not get bogged down talking about graphics or how games look, but damn this is a pretty game. This may not be pushing the hardware to it’s limits, but the overall style of the game is just beautiful. Now, on to the more important things. The one complaint a lot of people had with Kingdom Hearts 2 was that it felt too linear, like we were playing in striped down versions of the movie-based worlds. If the fall Sora took is going to be any indication, this game looks like it’s going to be massive. It’s possible this is edit trickery, but i’m really hoping each world we visit is more open than they were before hand.
Another thing i’m really liking is the transformable keyblade, like we see around1:28. Turning the keyblade into a gun or rocket launcher is just awesome and i can’t way to blow up a bunch of minor enemies for a laugh (don’t act like you don’t use over powered movies on minor enemies, we all do). When you add that to the new enemy types, the combat looks like it’s going to be just as fun as it was, though i wouldn’t mind moving away from the menu-based combat.
The only thing i’m not liking so far is the ride-base summons. It’s a cute idea, don’t get me wrong, but it feels too Disney, and i’ve always felt these games would benefit from adding in more Final Fantasy elements. All in all, i’m looking forward to this one.
